YouTube Keyword Research to Get More Views

five steps to re-energize and vitalize your Channel five steps change your life on YouTube holy smokes boss its mission critical isn't it you know cowhand what i'm about to share in this video is the cause of so much pain and struggle among so many youtubers that all ends today the downfall of so many promising youtubers is they simply don't know how to move forward and identify the right keyword phrase that they should target the keyword phrase that they're going to be able to rank for and that's what we're covering in this video so stick around ryuuji johnson step number one is to identify potential keyword phrases that you may keyword right there may want to target moving forward and step number two is to identify the potential keyword volume of various keyword phrases we're looking at some search terms right now and you can see here residual income opportunities is the first result that's listed next is residual income ideas followed by residual income opportunities 2016 lastly we've got residual income business now what's interesting is that if these results were listed alphabetically don't you think that residual income business would be listed well before the other search phrases so now what well I think it's safe to say that the keyword phrases that YouTube suggests are listed based on how popular they are thus the ones listed near the top are going to drive most likely more views to your videos this is something you want to take into consideration when identifying the right keyword phrase for your channel to target however don't stop there and the sad fact is lots of people do now we want to identify how competitive is that keyword phrase going to be and we just don't select a keyword phrase because it's got the most search volume rather we select a keyword phrase that is most likely going to drive results no matter what I much rather bank on driving a few views a day versus hoping to win the lottery in driving a thousand views a day in fact leveraging the strategy that is based on selecting keyword phrases that are less competitive has allowed me to gain six thousand subscribers relatively quickly and you can do the same and now a subscribe break step number three is to search YouTube with your potential keyword phrase and you want to pay attention to how many video results are listed obviously identifying a search term with far less competition say fifty thousand video results is going to be easier for you to rank for then say selecting a keyword phrase that has ten million results or even more step number four is where things get really good you see what you want to do is not only pay attention to how many video results there are but you want to look at the top 10 to 20 videos that are ranking for your potential target keyword phrase and you want to look at these things a how many views have the videos that are ranking in the top 10 driven less is better because ultimately the algorithm rewards watch time and one of the ways you can kind of identify approximately how much watch time a video has is by how many views it has less means easier for you to rank for next you want to take a look at the top 10 to 20 video results and this time you pay attention to how many subscribers each channel associated with the ranking video has now this is important because statistically speaking subscribers watch longer your goal is to find a few weak links a few weak videos that are ranking without a lot of subscribers without a lot of views and hence without a lot of watch time lastly I pay attention to how long the videos are that are ranking in the top 10 or 20 because YouTube has told us time and time again that they reward videos that keep viewers watching longer and you can't have a long viewing duration on a 2-minute video that doesn't mean you should make your video 10 or 20 minutes it does mean that if you identify a number of videos that are less than 5 minutes it's kind of a window of opportunity again looking for that weak link that gives you the signal that this is a good keyword phrase to target and step number five relevancy you want to pay attention again to those videos in the top 10 to 20 and this time we want to analyze how well they're optimized for relevancy this sounds super scary and hard but all you need is a web browser and if you're viewing YouTube on your computer you're looking at a web browser I've actually got a video that will walk you through the process of identifying just how well videos are optimized for relevancy check it out in the card right there partner and step number six is to simply ask yourself is there a weak link now a weak link might come in the form of there are really no videos that are very well optimized for relevancy or you might say you know I see a bunch of videos that are ranking in the top ten and they have less than ten thousand subscribers that might seem like a lot but across YouTube it's pretty small overall now this is science as much as it is art and as you look at these results more and more these elements watch time subscriber counts relevancy scoring's will begin to make sense and you'll be able to identify and select the keyword phrase that makes the most sense for you to target and ultimately that's how little itty bitty channels get to grow up and B Big Daddy channels if you want more beat to the G that's me woo go ahead and click the subscribe button below and when you do you'll feel pootle I got to and they're hungry poof Pixy dust

  1. I think thumbnail makes the visitor think to watch full and, then comes the logic ->> Not necessarily 10 or 20 minutes long; 3-4 minutes can gain longer watch times.

  2. Hi Brian…love your channel…I'm binge watching all your vids! In step 5, you say to check the top ten videos for relevancy. But, I don't get the "why." What's the purpose of checking other videos for optimization/relevancy? Thx.

  6. Okay, I after watching multiple videos… I now see the "G" in the Brian G Johnson's logo thingy usually on the bottom left. It always looked like an upside down soft Nike logo. I was focusing on the black in the icon and not the yellow, I feel like I rode the "small yellow bus" now, wow what a couple beers can do… I should drunk more often, probably find the solution to world peace or Something! 😂… anyway, Brian are you related to Navin R Johnson? You love Steve Martin and I know you get what I am saying… take care, I've learned a lot in a month from you!
