India is a vast and enormous country. It’s the seventh largest country in the world in terms of land area And it’s a second largest country in terms of population With over 1.2 billion people because there are so many people living in such a large area of course It’s understandable that there would be some cultural differences between the regions so here are 10 differences between North Indians and South Indians how’s it going everybody my name is Leroy Kenton And this is another episode of FTD facts and for everybody that loves watching our videos give this video a big thumbs up it really Helps and also for all you new faces all you new comers here to have TV facts hit that subscribe button and you get to Learn more about our world as well as stuff that you just never would have known and also This is a video that a lot of you were requesting for us to do so also Let me know down in the comments section what other videos Do you want us to do here on FTD facts so starting off with the first differences? We have the origins now They have different origins so the North Indians are descendants of the Aryan race Whereas the South Indians are descendants of the Dravidian race? It’s estimated that 72% of Indians are descendants of Aryans whereas? 28% are of Dravidian race and the next up is addressing style although the dressing style is largely the same There are some slight differences between the everyday clothing women in the northern states such as Punjab Bihar and Delhi vapor for salwar kameez or churidhar but in the southern states like Kerala and Tamil Nadu The saree is the preferred dress for men in the south wearing white Doty’s or colorful Lundy’s are very common But Doty’s in the north aren’t that elaborate and men usually end up wearing pants in the north now There is a big difference in language between the two cultures because they come from different places the Dravidian language like Tamil Kannada and Telugu Is unrelated to languages of other known cultures in the north of India because they speak languages Which have evolved from the indo-aryan language like Punjabi Hindi Urdu and Kashmiri and now looking at the musical instruments Right so the musical instruments used by musicians also vary while sitar sarangi and Santoor are very popular in the North the violin the veena as well as Mr Dan gum are favored in the south well so the musical instruments very so of course you can imagine that dancing does as well Many forms of classic Indian dance is very Devotional so the dancers play out musicals that tell fables of the gods some poplar Dan forms in the north are Kkatalk cha who gaya ODC and mani pari dances that are popular in the south are capped, Akali Kuchipudi as well as mohini attam Now every single region has its own unique cuisine South Indian food is much spicier and hot than North India South Indians consume a lot more rice while North Indians have a lot more wheat North Indians prepare parathas chapati puri and rotis Now rice is combined with different lentils to prepare dishes like rice dosa and these are very common in South India now fish and coconut are used a lot more by South Indians than North Indians now we want to look at the Differences with the religion both northern and southern India has a majority population of Hindus Muslims are the largest minority in India And they’re mostly concentrated in yupi Delhi Kashmir and Gujarat after that there’s Sikhism Jainism Buddhism and Christianity You can pretty much find all these religions in South India as well about 80% of South Indians follow Hinduism Islam is the second highest number and that’s at 11 percent while Christianity follows at 8 percent But there are a greater population of Muslims that live in North India than they do in the south And also these two regions have pretty distinct histories the North has been historically Considered the base of the ancient families like the Mari as Gupta’s Harsha’s the Mughals Sikhs and the British Empire as for the South now it had the most important trading Shore in the Indian subcontinent And they traded with the Romans Greeks Arabs Syrians Jews as well as the Chinese from the south Now looking at the economic growth so now unlike the north the South Indian states have really recorded higher than average numbers over the past three decades The south also ranks higher in terms of social and economic development in areas such as fertility rate as well as infrastructure however economic disparity between the rich and the poor Illiteracy as well as poverty are still major problems in the region and finally I want to look at the major cities so thus other cities have become a hub for Technological research and development cities like Bengaluru as well as Hyderabad are global capitals of call Centers now cities like Delhi on the other hand in the north are really more about the political Workings of the country and how the country is gonna be operating Versus like technological advancements so there you have it guys Those were some differences between the North Indians as well as the South Indians, and thank you so much for requesting this episode I definitely learned a lot more and end-of-the-day India is still such a beautiful place and so United regardless of the differences between the north and the south Be sure to check out our other videos about India as well as other places around the world we do have playlists for that as well as a Recommended video at the end of this episode that you can click on and you can also keep up with me on social media those Links are down below and you can see what I’m doing when I’m not filming these episodes until next time guys stay awesome and stay educated Okay great so for everybody that made it to this end screen Here’s a recommended video that you definitely gotta check out if you just love Learning about India as well as other parts of the world we post videos Every single day so come back here and keep on learning with us you guys have been awesome, and I’ll see you real soon

  1. All India are Dravidians like Abaregian of Australia they all came from Africa org., they were barefoot and naked when MUSLIMS ARABS, OTTOMAN AND MOGHULS CONQUERED and ruled Hindu for 1400 years, Hindus sell Children in Temples for sex and Sacrifice. All Hindus Worship Sexual behavior even with gods, Dead Bodies, prostitutions in openly excepted father asking men to sleep with their daughter just like in Hawaii. Even today. When muslims CONQUERED Hindus women forcing SEX with soldiers and prostitutions just to have fair or better looking babies for getting higher status in Temples and Society even to this day. All Hindus wants to marry or at least have babies with Muslim. Then came British, but queen Victoria soon but the stop to that by her visit to India and Hindus were not excepted in English Society. Hindus are just SOCIAL CLIMBERS and their so call Maharaja are always lurking in the dark. West known the history inspite of Hindus always rewriting the History.

  4. Calling our country "India" is not appropriate. It should be Called as "Indian Union". India itself is not a nation. It is the Union of Nations!

I'm tempted to ask you where you come from because of your appearance and the subject matter but as you stated India is very diverse in it's make up 👍👍

  7. I am a south indian and I have met north indians who are just as dark as me. However, since the north has more mixed races, hence lighter skin tone.

  9. this is so generalised lmao….. just some things- odissi isn't northern… its from odissa which is a southeastern/eastern coastal state. manipuri is from the northeast which anyone looking at a map can discern is a separate region of the country from the north. you also missed arguably the most widespread dance form from the south, bharatnatyam, which is also learnt by many northerners such as myself.

classifying north indians as aryans and south indians as dravidians is reductive…. the history of india is a lot more complex than that and haplogroups found in north indians are also found in south indians. the rates of occurence vary from state to state discernibly and classifying people as northern or southern by race isn't true at all here.

the differences in everyday clothing also vary mostly by state rather than by region in my experience – himachalis, punjabis, and rajasthanis all dress differently from each other even though they are all northern states. the languages are not unrelated – they are simply from different language families. these languages have coexisted in close proximity with each other for hundreds, if not thousands of years, and have had great influence on each other.

south indian food being much spicier is also a generalization – the cuisine, like most other things, varies from state to state. a cuisine of a specific region can be spicier, but indian food in general can be made to virtually any spice levels depending on who is making it and what they prefer. i've found rajasthani food to be much spicier than tamil food, and tamil food to generally tend to the spicier side when compared to punjabi food.

  10. Titiyan Ay  Look at other racial groups, the Caucasians, the Mongoloids, the Blacks. Don't they all have huge differences in the way people look as well? Do all Whites have blond hair and blue eyes? Do all Blacks have large noses and big lips? Do all Mongoloids have the same size eyes or the same skin colour. My point is that despite the differences in appearance, the majority of India is made up of people from a similar racial group except for some of the Mongoloids North Easterners and ethnic groups such as the Sidi etc.

  11. Food, accents, dressing differ among groups of people in smaller countries. Do not put forward an uneducated and an unwarranted video about India before first doing one on the various tribes in Africa. Yes the Northeastern Mongoloids are different, the Sidis are different but the rest of the people have similar features with varying degrees of complexion that can be explained by climate differences. Why do you assume that the lighter skinned people were Invaders anyway. Couldn't it easily have been the other way around, if one is to even consider your theory? Like I wrote before, look at the differences in complexion, hair and eye color amongst Whites. Look at the various Africans tribes and you will immediately see differences in facial features among Black people who have the same Black beautiful complexion. Once there are enough similar physical characteristics in a group of people, they represent a single racial group. My contention is that the majority of India is comprised of a single racial group with people of different complexions.

  13. Indian people keep moving from South t o north and north to south at very fast pace. Only their genetic history , ethnicity can tell whether they are fair skin northerners or dark skinned southerners. But not by place these days due to fast movements. Only 1% Indians have European like fair skin or light color eyes.

  14. They have different ancestry to start with but ended up in India and now share common cultural identity. People often mistaken Cultural identity is same as Cultural heritage, so. Racial or ethnic origin is also another factor apart from Cultural identity. You could be Sri Lankan origin living in England with UK citizenship, and can this person be Englishman? Just say he was brought up culturally as British national since very young age, he speaks English as 1st language. This person is culturally British but have Sri Lankan ethnic origin. This same logic applies to North & South Indians today given if the person is not mixed with one another.

  15. Lmao they are both dark. I’ve been to both regions and the so called North Indians are extremely dark. This is all made up stuff, some Indians are ashamed of their skin color because Indians television pushes only the light skinned people on TV and their are VERY few of them and in Caucasian standards they aren’t light lol even by Arab standards they are dark skinned people. This north south thing is completely false.

Those theories were created by British to divide people of India.. Many latest historians debunked the theory but to our misfortune, many Indians still believe that stale theory..

  29. Although India is even more complex than what you have described, especially if you include the North-East, Ladhak, Indian Jews and the African-Indian Siddis, but it is a commendable job that you have done in trying to describe this incredibly diverse country.

  34. Bro…..use the word INDO-ARYANS and DRAVIDIANS instead.
Because All north indians are indo-aryans , but not all indo-aryans live in north india alone !

Konkani people live in goa which does not lie in north india.
Similarly , gujarathis are indo-aryans, but gujarat is in western india not in north india.

INDO- ARYAN is our identity not 'NORTH INDIANS'.
