welcome to the marinated marketing video on how to use Joomla in this particular video we're going to focus on search engine optimization a very common question and in this aspect we're going to look at content which means the words the links the pictures and things that are inside your website they can improve your Google rankings so I'm going to start at the beginning if you look at the top of your site or preview at the very top where the tab is you'll notice that there's a key phrase shopping cart website design and Brisbane this phrase that's contained in this little tab is called the title and it represents a summary of the entire website what it is this particular title tag contains a lot of weight in Google so it's very important that you get your best keywords in your title tag I'm going to show you in a minute how to edit that title tag in addition when it comes to optimization every image that you insert needs to have some keywords describing the image in this case you look at my logo it says in the pop-up window shopping cart website designer Brisbane in Australia that's what we do we design shopping carts where website designers in Brisbane Australia links also have the ability to take metadata they're not showing in this particular case but I'm going to show you where you can edit and put keywords behind the links so what we have is the title keyword about the whole site we have keywords about the images in our sights we have keywords about the links in our sites when you click on a link and you load a website each website has keywords and it also has what they call metadata that means keywords about this page that you can't see but that's basically for the benefit of Google so just to summarize quickly we're going to set the global its title we're going to set alternative tags or keywords for images we're going to set keywords and meta tags for links we're going to set keywords and meta tags for pages alright so let's get started the first thing you need to do is log in to your website which we've already done here and then we're going to start with the main title that I pointed out in the tabs if you go to the site down to global configuration this is about the whole website now you'll notice that under the site option if you scroll down a little bit there's meta data settings at the bottom and meta data means information about information so these are the words that summarize the site so what we have first is the global site meta description and below that we have the global site meta keywords and a little bit higher which I should have mentioned first we have the site name now the site name in this case is the global title the little phrase that summarizes the entire site so what we put in here is shopping cart website designer Brisbane Australia which is exactly what you see up here at the top you should also have a similar summary of what you do in the Meta Description and the keyword so we've put in shopping cart website design in Brisbane Australia the shopping carts with content management systems that's describes what this websites about do-it-yourself management of websites so what you need to make sure you do is you put in a descriptive one-liner of the site name the site description and the global keywords when you've done that hit save or apply at the top right hand corner so step one is you need to set your global configuration by going to site global configuration and then set your meta tags that's the most important thing to get started the second thing we want to do is we want all the links to have some keywords about them in the background and all the articles to have some keywords about them in the background so let's start with our menus or links we go menus and then we go directly to the menu that we're interested in in this case it's the top menu of our site that runs across the top and it has the links home about some dropdowns website design and so forth the most important keyword link for your menu is home because this page is generally loads first and it's read by Google and even Joomla the home page has the ability to join a few things together but if you have a look on the on the right hand side there's a grey tab called parameters system and there's a little tag there called page title pop in a one-line keyword about your website in the page title for the home tag very important you can turn show page title to no that means don't print it on the page but just leave it in the background if you do want this to print on the page you can tick yes and it will appear like a header in your page so in order to save that you would type in a one line into parameter system page title and then hit save reply so what we've now done is we've gone to the home tag and given it some keywords about it you should do the same for every other link in your site so if we go out when we go to parameter systems we should have a little one-line description of the about page what's it all about shopping cart website designer Brisbane and so forth we've set this page title to not show and not print on on the actual page but does just stay in the background for Google so when it comes to menu metadata you need to go through each menu item go to the right hand side and type in a one-line descriptive keyword about that page or that link so quick summary we went to site global configuration we set the main titles for the page at the top here then we went to menus top menu it may be main menu in your case but you go directly to the menu click on each menu item and set the keywords and the system parameters on the right-hand side what we're going to look at next is articles articles pages that have pictures and text so if I go to content article manager I can see all the pages that are used in my website and they're all descriptive marketing getting started SEO our contact page wholesale websites and so on so in order to set a keyword you need to go into edit mode so let's go to wholesale website for example and very similar to Lynx you'll notice on the right hand side there's some gray boxes or gray tabs one of them is called metadata information and what what is required here is a short description and a list of keywords that describe this particular page only that's really important not to make duplicates if you can help it in your meta tags because Google doesn't like that because it thinks every page should be unique and so should the information about that page or the metadata so in this case we've written wholesale reseller websites with shopping carts and discount groups these are the keywords that people are looking for in wholesale once you've entered in your particular keywords into the description and the keywords you can hit save or apply to save those changes now I often get asked what is the description where do I see this where does it show up in Google and where are the keywords this little description that you see is what you see in Google in black and white text underneath the link in the search results so they usually have the page name www.paigeedraw.com it briefly is we went to I'll just close this change for now we went to site global configuration and we set the keywords about the entire website by using the site name the description again this is visible in Google so make sure it's meaningful and then some keywords which are invisible there in the background then we went to menu to the particular menu that we have and we've clicked on every single link that we have in our main menu and in doing so on the right hand side under systems parameter you've got the page title where you can set the keywords for each page and last but not least if you go to content article manager we had a list of all the pages and when you clicked on a page on the right hand side again under you can enter a description that he needs to be unique and you can enter the keywords that describe this page and this page is coming soon we'll be finishing that shortly but it's essentially about search engine optimization strategies in Google and Bing so in a nutshell if you do those three things you will get much better search engine rankings what I'm going to cover in the next section is how to optimize pictures and content within your actual articles to score the most points you can on google for the best rankings
